Merle Haggard recorded two of his own compositions in 1973 and they were released on Capitol records. This single peaked at number 28 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 1 on the Billboard Hot Country chart.

"If We Make It Through December" was received positively by a review panel with Billboard magazine. In the review published October 13, 1973, they wrote, "Another change of pace by Haggard, who keeps surprising with his various styles, and does so well with all. He is a complete artist."

Haggard was born April 6, 1937 and we lost him April 6, 2016. Merle Haggard an American country singer, songwriter, guitarist and fiddler was credited along with Buck Owens for helping create the Bakersfield sound which is evident by the twang of his Fender Telecaster guitar and the unique mix of traditional country steel guitar. They developed new vocal harmony styles in which the words were minimal and had a rougher edge not heard on the more polished Nashville sound of the same era.

This 45 sounds good and is in good condition. It does have a slight scratch on the A side.
