The Capitol Showband was one of the biggest Irish showbands of the 1960's. They were formed in 1960. The original players were Butch Moore on vocals, Jimmy Hogan on lead guitar, Des Kelly on bass and vocals, Johnny Kelly was the drummer, Eddie Monahan was on piano, Paul Sweeney was on trumpet, Patrick Loughman was trombone and Eddie Ryan was saxophone. of the 60's, the Capitol was formed in 1960 with a line-up comprising Butch Moore (vocals), Jimmy Hogan (lead guitar), Des Kelly (vocals, bass), Johnny Kelly (drums), Eddie Monahan (piano), Paul Sweeney (trumpet) Patrick Loughman (trombone) and Eddie Ryan (saxophone). However changes were made as the group became more professional, Loughman and Ryan were replaced with Don Long and Paddy Cole. The band called Dublin their home and they were the first showband to appear on Irish Television.
