Marie Osmond was born in Ogden, Utah and is the only daughter of nine children. The Osmond Brothers maintained a career in show buiness, singing and performing on national television but Marie seldom performed with them throughout the sixties, however when she was four years old she performed with her brothers on The Andy Williams Show.

After the initial success of The Osmonds in 1970 Marie's brother Donny gained success as a solo artist on the Pop Music charts and became a teen idol. It was then that The Osmonds management team convinced Marie to try. She did, and signed with their label and began making concert appearance with the brothers. Her style was more country which was a solid difference to what the brothers were performing at the time.

In 1973, Marie released her first single titled "Paper Roses". It was a cover version of an Anita Bryant song, it became a number 1 country hit and reached number 5 on Billboard magazines Pop chart. Both the single and the album by the same name were certified gold.
