Oak Ridge Boys are an outstanding and long standing country and gospel vocal quartet. The group was founded in the 1940s as the Oak Ridge Quartet. They became popular in southern gospel music during the 1950s.  It was in the early 1960s that their name was changed to the Oak Ridge Boys. This amazing group remained true to gospel music until the mid 1970s when they changed their focus to country music.

Duane Allen and William Lee Golden joined the group in the mid 1960's. Allen a lead singer and Golden a baritone were joined in the early 1970's by Joe Bonsall a tenor and Richard Sterban a bass singer. This group of these four produced their best known country and crossover hits like "Elvira", "Bobbie Sue" and "American Made".
