Mark Lindsay wrote Powder Blue Mercedes Queen and in 1972 Columbia Records released it. On the label it said, Raiders instead of Paul Revere and the Raiders. This song never reached top 40 status for the Raiders.

Originally from Boise, Idaho the Raiders began as an instrumental rock band led by organist and founder Paul Revere Dick. Paul Revere was born in 1938.

In his early 20's, Revere owned several restaurants in Caldwell, Idaho and he first met linger Mark Lindsay who was born in 1942 in Eugene, Oregon while picking up hamburger buns from a bakery where Lindsay worked. Shortly after in 1958 Lindsay joined Revere's band. The band was originally called the Downbeats however they changed their name to Paul Revere & the Raiders in 1960.

Their first hit in the Pacific Northwest came with the instrumental song, Like Long Hair in 1960. That song did make its way up the Billboard Hot 100 chart to number 38 April of 1961.  When Revere was drafted for military service, he became a conscientious objector and worked as a cook at a mental institution for a year and a half of deferred service. During the same time period, Lindsay pumped gas in Wilsonville, Oregon. On the strength of their Top 40 single, Lindsay toured the U.S. in the summer of 1961 with a band that featured Leon Russell taking Revere's place on piano.

This record is a radio station copy released by Columbia Records that featured a Mono version on one side and Stereo on the other. This record has a little writing on the label, it sounds good and and is in good condition.
