David Soul (born David Richard Solberg, August 28, 1943) in Chicago, Il. He is an American British actor and singer. He is known for his role as Detective Kenneth "Hutch" Hutchinson in the ABC television series Starsky & Hutch. He became a British citizen in 2004.
Soul attended Augustana College, University of the Americas in Mexico City and the University of Minnesota. At the age of 19 he turned down a professional baseball contract with the Chicago White Sox so that he could study political science. While in college his fellow classmates taught him to play guitar which led him the change his direction and follow his passion for music. His first musical appearance when he returned to the United States from Mexico was in Minneapolis at The 10 O'Cloc Scholar.
Soul first gained attention as the Covered Man appearing on The Merv Griffin Show in 1966 and 1967 on which he sang while wearing a mask. At about the same time he made his television debut on Flipper.
Over the years Soul is very well known for his acting in movies, tv and stage, His talent as a singer is obvious when you hear him sing.
