Avalon was born in Philadelphia in 1940. In December 1952, Avalon made his American network television debut playing the trumpet in the Honeymooners "Christmas Party" sketch on The Jackie Gleason Show. Two singles were released showcasing his trumpet playing by RCA Victor's "X" sub label in 1954.
In 1959, his recording of Venus hit number 1 on the charts and remained there for five weeks, then "Why" went to number 1 and was his last number one in the 1950's.
Avalon had 31 charted Billboard singles from 1958 to late 1962. Most of his hits were written and /or produced by Bob Marcucci, head of Chancellor Records.
This album is in very good condition, the cover is sound but is not beautiful.
