Marilyn Michaels (Sternberg) began performing at age 7 with her mother on the Yiddish stage and throughout Canada. At age 14 she was a soloist in her father and uncle's choir, and also sang duets with Oysher on the classic recording, Moishe Oysher's Chanuka Party.
While still in high school, she was signed to Debbie Records, headed by Ray Rainwater and her first single, "Johnny Where Are You," was produced by Phil Ramone. Following that effort came a contract with RCA Victor record producers Hugo and Luigi. She recorded "Tell Tommy I Miss Him" which was the answer to the Ray Peterson hit "Tell Laura I Love Her". From there came a record contract with ABC Records and this release.
