Meri Wilson Edgmon was born in 1949 and was a model, singer, songwriter and best known for singing double entendre novelty songs.
Coming from a musical family and at the age of two Wilson began singing, learning piano, cello and eventually flute and guitar.
Wilson earned a BS in music at Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music, and later a master's in music education at Georgia State University.
After recovering from a car accident in 1975 she began performing at a club in Underground Atlanta and to earn extra money she worked as a model and sang for commercial jingles.
