GRT Records released the 45 rpm record in 1977 by Meri Wilson. This song made it to number 18 on the Billboard Hot 100. In the UK it reach number 6. This record became a gold record for Wilson.

This song became a favorite on the Dr. Demento Radio Show.

Meri Wilson Edgmon  was born in 1949 and was a model, singer, songwriter and best known for singing double entendre novelty songs. 

Coming from a musical family and at the age of two Wilson began singing, learning piano, cello and eventually flute and guitar. 

Wilson earned a BS in music at Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music, and later a master's in music education at Georgia State University. 

After recovering from a car accident in 1975 she began performing at a club in Underground Atlanta and to earn extra money she worked as a model and sang for commercial jingles.
