Ronald Dean McDowell was born in 1950 and is a country music singer and songwriter. He is best known for his 1977 song, The King Is Gone which was a tribute to Elvis Presley, who had recently passed away. From that single on McDowell charted more than thirty top forty hits on the Billboard country music chart.
