Dolton Records (a division of Liberty Records) released The Fleetwoods Greatest Hits album in 1962. On this excellent album are the following songs: Mr. Blue; Come Softly To Me; Runaround; Tragedy; The Great Impostor; Confidential; Outside My Window; The Last One To Know; Graduation's Here; You Mean Everything To me; Truly Do and Poor Little Girl.
The Fleetwoods an excellent vocal group from Olympia, Washington. The members were Gary Troxel, Gretchen Christopher and Barbara Ellis.
Their first hit was Come Softly to Me. Their second hit, Graduation's Here was co-written by Ellis and Christopher, then came Mr Blue which also topped the charts just the way Come Softly to Me did. The Fleetwoods were the first group in the world to have multiple No. 1 hits top The Billboard Hot 100 in a single year.
The Fleetwoods continued recording into the 1960's. They hit the top ten again with Tragedy in 1961. They went on to have a total of eleven hits on the Hot 100, the beginning of the end for the group came when Troxel had to fulfill his obligation to go onto active duty in the Navy. He joined the US Navy Naval Reserve in 1956. The Trio's hits ended in 1963. Troxel gave his resignation from the group leaving Christopher as manager with sole authority to contract for both the original and replacement Fleetwoods.
In the 1980's Troxel formed a new Fleetwoods group and they have been performing regularly since then doing some oldies concerts and PBS shows each year.
This album sounds good and is in very good condition. The cover shows very little shelf wear.
