The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band had a string of hits and this was one of them, Buy For Me The Rain on the A side while on the B side Candy Man another of the groups popular songs. These songs were released as a 45 rpm record on Liberty Records.
The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band best known as a country rock band that started in Long Beach, California in 1966. Personnel changes plagued the band as is the case with many such musical groups. But constant members since the early years are singer and guitarist Jeff Hanna and drummer Jimmie Fadden. Multi-instrumentalist John McEuen was with the band from 1966 to 1986 and returned in 2001 staying until November 2017. During the time between 1976 through 1981 they performed as the Dirt Band.
